Students can apply for assistance from the OPHS Band Boosters if financial hardship prevents participation in any OPHS Band Program ensemble.

 

Individuals and businesses are welcome to make a tax deductible donation to the OPHS Band Boosters. Help us support our students and be acknowledged in concert programs and on our website!

 

Students and parents who wish to be reimbursed for purchases or utilize money from previous student accounts may submit a request.

Board Descriptions

The OPHS Band Boosters is organized exclusively for the purpose of providing resources to assist, supplement, and support the OPHS Band program, students, and director.

President:

  • Communicates weekly either verbally or via email with Band Director to support his band program(s) requirements.
  • Communicates almost daily either verbally or via email with Executive Board members and Committee members.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for all activities of the OPHS Band Boosters.
  • Presides at all Band Booster General Meetings.
  • Emails Executive Board members with detailed information concerning votes to be made.
  • Casts a deciding vote; if a vote becomes a tie.
  • In the absence of the Treasurer, signs all OPHS Band Booster checks disbursed.
  • Finds parent volunteers to provide a leadership role in band activities and fundraising events.
  • Writes OPHS Band Booster memorandums for record.

Vice President:

  • A voting member on the OPHS Band Booster Executive Board.
  • Presides at band booster meetings if President cannot preside.
  • Acts as President if the President cannot serve or resigns.
  • Communicates weekly either verbally or via email with Band Director to support his band program(s) requirements.
  • Communicates almost daily either verbally or via email with Executive Board members and Committee members.
  • Responsible for the adherence to and maintenance of the OPHS Band Booster Bylaws.

Treasurer:

  • A voting member on the OPHS Band Booster Executive Board.
  • Communicates weekly either verbally or via email with Band Director to support his band program(s) financial requirements.
  • Communicates almost daily either verbally or via email with Executive Board members and Committee members.
  • Maintain the OPHS Band Booster checkbook.
  • Signs all OPHS Band Booster checks disbursed.
  • Provides the Executive Board and general meeting participants with budget report each month.
  • Maintains all financial records and receipts using Quick Book Software.
  • Ensures an annual audit of the OPHS Band Booster accounts is conducted and presented to the OPHS Band Booster Executive Board at the annual meeting held at the final band concert of the school year.
  • Prepares an initial budget for the OPHS Band Boosters to be tabled at the first school year meeting (usually in July).
  • Maintains student account balances.
  • Is present at band fundraising events and band activities to collect money from leadership.
  • Brings checks to bank weekly to be cashed.

Secretary:

  • A voting member on the OPHS Band Booster Executive Board.
  • Communicates weekly either verbally or via email with Band Director to support his band program(s) financial requirements.
  • Communicates almost daily either verbally or via email with President.
  • Records the Minutes at all OPHS Band Booster meetings. The Minutes are typed and presented at next regular meeting for approval.
  • Prepares meeting agendas with President. Final agenda is emailed prior to Band Booster meetings for all to review.
  • Prepares OPHS Band Booster Newsletters and emails to appropriate contact at OPHS.
  • Types letters and memorandum as requested by President.
  • Types achievement and band choice certificates.
  • Is the OPHS Band Booster record keeper.

Director of Fundraising:

  • A voting member on the OPHS Band Booster Executive Board.
  • Communicates weekly either verbally or via email with Band Director to support his band program(s) financial requirements.
  • Communicates almost daily either verbally or via email with Executive Board members and Committee members.
  • Communicates with Mr. Laine, OPHS Activities Director, for unplanned fundraising events.
  • Coordinates all fundraising activities on behalf of the OPHS Band Boosters.
  • Assigns fundraising events to parent volunteer leaders with full explanation of how event will operate.
  • Provides periodic reports on the status of planned or ongoing fundraising activities at Band Booster meetings.
  • Provides a final report outlining results of fundraising events including pros and cons of each event.
  • Submits the initial plan to the Executive Board in early May for submission and coordination with OPHS.

Photographer/Videographer:

  • A non-voting member within the OPHS Band Boosters.
  • Communicates either verbally or via email with the Band Booster President and Band Director.
  • Downloads and stores photos from camera to Band Boosters’ online photo storage (Photoshop) using account and password.
  • Performs back up of photos as needed.
  • Takes photos of each Marching Band member for public posting.
  • Takes photos and video of:
    • Marching Band camp (including group/seniors)
    • Marching Band camp parent performance
    • Football game nights
    • Marching Band competitions
    • Band Concerts
    • Holiday Parade
  • Provides photos to be used in Marching Band Senior scrapbooks.
  • Provides photos to Webmaster to post on website and Facebook.

Food Coordinator:

  • A non-voting member within the OPHS Band Boosters.
  • Communicates either verbally or via email with the Band Booster President and Band Director.
  • Coordinates band meals served on Friday game nights.
  • Create Sign Up Genius “Invites” for band meals and other events.
  • Seeks volunteers via “Sign Up Genius” to set up and clean up 1st floor cafeteria when used for band meals.
  • Seeks volunteers via “Sign Up Genius” to donate food items.
  • Purchases pizza or Chik-Fil-A as needed.
  • Coordinates concessions and hot lunches during Marching Band Camp (Aug)
  • Coordinates refreshment table at winter and spring concerts.
  • Coordinates food for Spring Band Banquet picnic held in June.

The OPHS Band Boosters is a 501(c)3 organization and operates solely from donations received from the community. Donations made to the Band Boosters are tax deductible. All money donated goes directly to the OPHS Band Program for the purchase or repair of uniforms, instruments, equipment, as well as general operating expenses.
