BYODevices! How can I be successful in orchestra class?
you are tardy when - you enter my classroom after the tardy bell rings. (Period 1) You may also be considered as tardy if you are not in your seat ready to get started after the morning announcements have concluded.
1st offense - warning (Per Class)
2nd offense - warning plus parent notification
3rd offense - office notification (detention)
All tardies are tallied by the attendance computer system (SMS)
Using the Restroom
before you enter the room
at the beginning of class
at the end of class
Ladies – white shirt (with a collar), long black skirt, black shoes and a black bow tie.
Gents- white shirt, black dress pants and shoes, black socks and a black bow tie.
Advanced and Chamber Ensemble
Ladies – Long Black Dress (Can be purchased through OP Southeastern Apparel) $65
Gentlemen – Tuxedo or Black Jacket, and bow tie, black pants
I will provide order information on this (Southeastern Apparel)
School Instrument Rental
If you are planning to use a stringed instrument from OPHS
You will need to complete a rental form. The cost is $60. Instruments that are shared, the cost is $30
If you are using a school instrument, you will need to have a rental contract signed and returned.
(Those using your own instrument do not need a rental form)

Daily Grades 100 pts
Written/Playing Quizzes 200 pts
School Concerts/Major Playing Written Test 300 pts
Project Grades 400 pts
Other Grading Information
The following are possible deductions from daily grades:
unexcused or tardy to class - 25 pts
disruption or being sent out of the room or to office - 50 pts
notbeing prepared for class (no instrument)
-50 pts if student take class notes and turns them in at the end of class
-100 points if student has no instrument and does not take class notes
If you have a legitimate reason for not having your instrument on a given day, then please have your parents write a note of explanation and I will not penalize your grade.
If you are consistently not prepared for class, I reserve the right to change my grading procedure for you. (an automatic minus 100)
Intermediate Orchestra Students - NEVER TAKE THE BLACK FOLDERS WE USE IN CLASS HOME WITH YOU! I WILL GIVE YOU COPIES OF THE MUSIC WE WILL WORK ON IN CLASS.
